Just the other morning I woke up in a panic thinking I had overslept because of how bright it was in my apartment. It was still prior to seven ante meridiem and there was light! But despite the light, I still continue to hit the snooze button each morning- for at least thirty minutes. This morning, it was for an hour and fifteen minutes.
Can you imagine? It’s not like I’m actually sleeping during that time period- Roscoe is usually sitting ever so closely next to my head, patting my cheek once he hears the alarm. There’s so much I could be accomplishing during those thirty (or sometimes sixty plus) minutes in the morning. Here is just a short list:
- Actually set my alarm for seven-thirty instead of seven, or six-thirty and so on and get quality sleep. Roscoe and I will both stay snuggled in and promptly rise when awoken.
- Read. I am always complaining that I don’t have enough time to read for pleasure (instead of those dreaded textbooks). I have five or six books sitting on my bookshelf that are begging to be opened.
- Workout. When I get home in the evening and workout I feel great. But I feel so good and energized that I can’t sleep and have made it a habit to stay up past midnight. For anyone who knows me, this is very uncommon and unlike me. I once was a morning person and cannot wait to run the streets early in the morning rather than dodge traffic and heat in the evenings.
- Cook- either a great breakfast or a wonderful dish for lunch/dinner. I come home every afternoon for lunch and would love to have more meals already pre-made for me. Nothing better than a fresh, healthy meal.
- Blog. I have about a million different ideas running through my head. I also like to get up and immediately try to write down any dreams I had from that evening- but it seems as though I wait to long and the details are no longer fresh in mind. And lastly a book. I have a new idea and have been throwing possiblities around in my head- I think it’s about time that I document them for later use.
How many times do you hit the snooze in the morning? And have you ever been so tired in the morning that you think that the word snooze is spelled incorrectly?
