Confession: I love the new Britney Spears album- Femme Fatale. In the past I wasn’t much of a fan of hers, with random favorite hits, but this whole album is great. And it’s even better with the warmer weather and the windows down in the Fit. Or on the ipod for a run on the bike path. That’s how I roll.
Day five without Facebook: miserable. Wednesday I got sick with a sore throat, my whole body was achy with a fever/chills and I couldn’t sleep = no work on Thursday. And being home, bored, and unable to get out of bed was the worst time to give up the most popular social media site. Ugh. I was thrown off today returning to the office thinking it was Monday and still searching to click the familiar link up in the toolbar. On the plus side, I got my financial analysis completed within record time and sent off to the favorite nerd professor (as a fellow blogger refers to him as).
I’m definitely feeling sluggish this week with very little sleep and no early morning workouts. It was pouring Wednesday when I did get up at five but I’m thankful I didn’t dodge the droplets because I was apparently already coming down with something. Although it’s supposed to rain this weekend, I’m looking forward to a long run to get myself back into gear after a week off. I went to the market this evening and picked up some great staples to cook a few dishes for the upcoming week. I’m thinking a hearty chili and spicy soup… I’ll surely post the recipes!
China update: in exactly one month I’ll be overseas! A few of you mentioned that you’ve been there previously, if any of you have tips or suggestions as to what to bring/see, please please please let me know! I’m packing light: 44 pounds maximum which will include emergency snacks (protein bars, seeds/nuts, homemade granola). In response to my last post with concerns about my potential stomach issues, I’ve ordered some essential oils to bring along.
I like the Young Living Essential Oils brand, reasonably priced and also offers great blends. I ordered peppermint, which is known to sooth digestion and restore digestive efficiency, and lemon, which just tastes great mixed with water. I also picked up the roll-on version of one of their blends, valor, to increase feelings of strength, courage, and self-esteem in the face of adversity. It has also been found to help energy alignment in the body aka I’m gonna put some on my wrists prior to a long run. When I worked with the children, every night I would turn on a diffuser in each of their rooms at bedtime; these scents remind me of them.
Speaking of bedtime, I’m going to snuggle in on this cool Friday evening. Nothing like fresh air and clean sheets- spring is surely in the air. What reminds you of the changing seasons?
