Dear Jet Lag: Really?! I have probably gotten a total of ten hours of sleep since flying home last Monday, and frankly, I cannot function like this. I don’t mind the early wake up call– kinda motivates me to get up and run early before work and the heat, but wanting to fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon at work is not okay. Please oh please let me get at least six hours of sleep tonight. Dear Self: Deciding to take two additional days off last week was genius. Too bad it wasn’t enough. P.s… you must unpack your suitcase. Dear Freeze Pops: You have come to the rescue! I literally only have you and a carton of eggs in my fridge/freezer and you have satisfied every pang of hunger. I promise I will supplement you with real food any day now.
Readjusting into “normal” life has been kinda tricky, with the lack of energy to complete tasks. I have yet to go to the market or unpack. I’ve almost been zombie-like for the past week. I have however gotten myself “kinda” caught up in my one remaining summer class and am looking forward to the 28th– when it’ll be finished.
This past weekend was wonderful. The weather was perfect and I was northbound to share photographs with my family. I ended up laying by the pool with the little sistah to enjoy a fudgesicle and catch-up. Dinner was super satisfying (seeing as I’ve been living off of icepops): a cheeseburger off of the grill, pasta salad and corn on the cob! Oh! and an ice cold Tsingtao that I found at the local beverage center. My mom didn’t appreciate the cheap Chinese beer as much as my fellow collegues and I did overseas.
This is week two of my marathon training and for all of you who aren’t members of DailyMile- go sign up now to track my progress! I should have prepared myself more than I did but I’m determined to make it to the finish line regardless. And although today was my rest today, I was still up super super early to enjoy breakfast on the front porch. My mom made me a loaf of banana bread and packed me a little baggy of fresh cherries. Sure did hit the spot.
Until I have the motivation to write more about my trip, enjoy the wonderful weather and stay cool!
Is it wrong that just you writing “it’s week two of my marathon training” makes me jealous and I am only one week from the second one I’ve run in 90 days?!? LOL Let’s get together for a long run when you get there 🙂
it is kinda wrong ha ha! esp. because I am only in week two and dreading the remaining 15 weeks! my long runs are scheduled for Sundays… hopefully those days are free for you!
Sundays work for me 🙂
