Holy smokes, homies! I’ve finally reached my 100th blog post! Can you believe it?! If you have followed me from day one, congratulations! You’re a stalker! And my hero. If you just found me, subscribe! I’m telling you, I don’t know why, but I’ll get you hooked. All the feedback, positive notes and questions are what keep me writing each entry. Thank you!
I was wondering how I was going to celebrate this wonderful occasion on such short notice- I typically don’t blog 4-7 times each week and with this cleanse and keeping everyone updated, it was here before I knew it. And I can’t really throw a party; a. because not all of my loyal readers are in town and b. not all of them are on the juice cleanse. Well, none of them actually. I figured I could celebrate my one-year anniversary on this site coming up at the end of the month with a raw party… and I have some great recipes in the works!
But for now, I’ll celebrate on my own… with a kick-ass workout! Here’s the breakdown:
- 100 jump squats
- 100 crunches
- 100 jumps (rope)
- 100 reverse crunches
- 100 seconds sprints (5 20-seconds sprints, actually)
- 100 plank-ups
- 100 kettle ball squats
- 100’s
This is my plan for after work. It’s suppose to be a hot one but I’m going to do five sets of twenty to make it “reasonable.” I’ll definitely post a photograph when I finish– I’m sure I’ll have a juice in hand!
Speaking of juice, today is {takeover: day ten!} I feel great, my skin is glowing (says a co-worker), I’m strong when working out and my cravings have definitely decreased. I think I’m going to extend the cleanse to 15 days! I stocked up on more fruits and veggies last evening and am ready to finish out the week! Sorry Nicole, I will not be eating iLove this week or the next. That just means you’ll have to come back to visit me and my big girl job.
- I am one of two children, the oldest of two girls.
- I am the complete opposite of my sister and for years I think that’s why we didn’t get along. Now that I’m out of the house, I think we miss each other more and more each day. (she probably won’t admit this)
- My biological parents are divorced but my family is complete. When I refer to my father, I’m talking about my dad: the guy who has been part of my life since I was too little to remember.
- My mom is my hero. No joke. Sometimes when I struggle to put things into prospective, I think about her being a single parent. She is the master of all.
- I’d like to think I’m pretty lucky. I beat a lot of statistics growing up with divorced parents. Yeah, we broke the mold.
- I miss living at home because I miss my dog. And snuggling with him. Each time I visit and leave, it breaks my heart.
- I’m happy my family has a garden.
- You know those quarter machines in grocery stores? Well, they used to have characters called Homies. Yeah, we tried to collect as many of them as possible. Hence my frequent usage of the word. I like it. Homie. Ha.
- I hate running. Every single step of the way I struggle mentally but when I finish, I love to see the miles rack up. I often wish it were easier but then would it be fun?
- GASP! And I am probably weeding out any potential mate out there reading this, I already have my wedding dress. Not purchased. But picked out. No ifs ands or buts. Maybe one day soon I’ll save up and put it into storage.
- I really really really want a life-size, realistic tattoo of a lobster. I’m just waiting for the perfect photograph at the right time.
- I love french fries. Frozen, fresh, curly, shredded, steak, home-style, crinkle, plain, seasoned, with ketchup and an endless supply. No matter what.
- No matter how rad the iPhone is, I miss my Blackberry and the non-touch screen.
- Although I’ve been painting my nails more frequently recently, I still pick it off just as quickly to breath better. Sigh.
- I don’t have a favorite color. Red looks best on me, black is always slimming and pink makes me feel like a girl. But purple is flashy and great for workouts and blue brings out my eyes. I never wear yellow or orange.
- I do believe in ghosts. Or some sort of energy.
- I have a scar in between my eyes from when I got hit in the head with a hammer by my babysitter. Long story short, there were bears, a thunderstorm and high winds. She felt so guilty I got to hit her in the head. But that didn’t make me feel better.
- I have another scar on my right hand from third grade when I almost cut off my thumb with a corn husk. Crazy right?
- Knock on wood, I’ve never had to wear a cast.
- Nor have I been in a car accident.
- Or gotten a ticket. (start knocking people!)
- I have a pretty high tolerance to physical pain. I don’t have any form of pain reliever in my purse or medicine cabinent, so please don’t ask.
- Twenty-three is my most favorite number in the world. I was born on the twenty-third, it was my favorite year, and well, I just love it. Not that it’s lucky, can’t explain it I guess.
- I don’t like people that contradict themselves. I’ll call you out on it.
- I also don’t like fans. The feeling of it on my skin kinda hurts me.
- Often times I prefer the company of animals over people.
- I am a dog person. I’m stuck with a cat that I dislike yet love and refuse to give him up because he has a super home. But I secretly want a Boston terrier. ASAP.
- When I find something that I like, I’m extreme and will consume myself with that until I’m fed up.
- I had some of my best memories with a man that I no longer communicate with.
- I’d give anything to go back take more photographs of my freshman year of college.
- I played the violin for ten years.
- I cry all the time. And very easily. But I’m not a cry-baby.
- When I’m older, I’d love to move. Far away. Not to run away but to experience something new.
- My teeth are soft. And sensitive. I don’t like cold drinks, fruit, or chewing ice cream.
- I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to red food dye– especially in gum. Always gives me a headache. And I never get headaches.
- I let my cat drink out of the toilet. If he’s happy risking his life, as am I.
- Although I am super organized and in need of control, I am messy. I like to think I know where things are exactly, even if they are in a heap on the floor.
- I don’t like being messy and rather enjoy a clean apartment, especially if friends want to stop by unexpectedly.
- I don’t have a television. And I blame my lack of knowledge on this fact. Truth is: I don’t care who killed who, who is dating who, and what causes cancer.
- If you make me wait, I’ll be pissed at you for days to follow. Please, be there when you said you will.
- I absolutely can not wait to be pregnant. I mean, yes, I can wait. But I can’t wait to experience something that not all others can.
- I will not have an epidural. If my mom can do it, so can I!
- A lot of people tell me that I am not who they thought I was. And I think this is a good thing.
- Have you ever stared at someone so closely that you actually see WHO THEY ARE? Not like, what they look like. But actually see them? I have. But to very few people.
- For the first time in my life, I have more women in my life than men. I don’t know if this is a good thing, but it’s new and working.
- I’m really bad at remembering birthdays. I blame facebook.
- I’m kinda obsessed with cards. If I see one I like, I’ll buy it no matter what. I have a box filled with them for just the perfect time. And person.
- I tend to trust people fairly quickly.
- When I was a kid, I used to climb trees, run through the woods barefoot and read for hours in my closet.
- Often times when I need to escape, I walk. Alone. To put my thoughts back into order.
- I love to go camping. I haven’t been with my family in years. There’s nothing like waking up to the sound of nature.
- Although I’m pretty good at arguing, I hate it. And have been trying to avoid all types of conflict in my life.
- Every time I swear I think of my mother. Dammit, do you want soup in your mouth?
- Recently, I get far too frustrated with other drivers. I think it’s because I walk everywhere and despise having to put gas in my car.
- Speaking of cars, I have yet to name this one. This car took me across the country and back, and I have yet to make the connection.
- I love food. I love going out to new places and trying new dishes. I can’t wait until I can afford good food (while eating out) on a regular basis.
- I also love receiving flowers. I haven’t gotten any in a really long time and miss the idea of someone thinking of me randomly.
- I prefer my men to be scruffy. And not clean shaven each and every day. But they do need to clean up well for occasion.
- I knew from a specific moment in my life who I wanted to spend the rest of my life waking up next to. I know the date, estimated time, what we were both wearing and what was said. If only I trusted this moment in difficult times instead of giving up.
- There are many things that I regret. But I don’t have the option of re-doing the past so I can only learn from those mistakes to make the present better.
- I’m nervous about starting my new job in a week but am excited to begin a new chapter in my life.
- Bungee jumping is next on my bucket list.
- I’m currently making a list of all the things I’d like to do/see/accomplish this summer. This list includes hiking a few new peaks, heading to Boston, go white water rafting and seeing at least one concert on the lawn at SPAC. Anyone down?
- I’d like to think that I’m a pretty good cook. I’d love to learn more raw recipes so that I don’t feel isolated from my friends.
- I never have enough money! Hopefully this will change with my new job.
- I despise going to the eye doctor because they put that puff of air in your eyes and well, it just plain stinks!
- I want to learn how to hula-hoop. And by hula-hoop I mean with fire.
- Not showering everyday is NOT a problem for me. I actually prefer it.
- I haven’t worn deodorant for about two years now. And no one has ever complained or noticed.
- I honestly do not understand people who are obsessed with sneakers. I met someone recently that has 97 pairs. What the hell (sorry mom)?! Where does one store 97 pairs of sneakers. And you guessed it, it was a male.
- Etsy.com is fun. I could spend so much money on there if I had any to spare.
- Some of my closest/biggest fans of this blog, I have never met before.
- I have one necklace that I wear almost every day. An acorn.
- I wear my hair in a pony almost every day. I can’t help it, I’m a hair tucker. I so desperately want my hair to be long but love it short. OH the decisions in my life!
- My face is very rigid. And I have to be careful not to turn it in photographs, otherwise I look like a horse.
- I don’t want bigger boobs.
- One day I’d love to be called Dr. However, that day will not be soon. I am so over education at this point in my life.
- I haven’t read a book for pleasure in a long time. And although I do have more time on my hands this summer, it isn’t at the top of my list.
- Almost 94% of the time, I’m secure about who I am. Insecurity is something I’ve recently been dealing with after this tough breakup and I know, I just have to get over it.
- I’m no longer a rebel. But maybe this too will change…
- With my blog, I’ve become extremely concerned about hurting one’s feelings. But hopefully within the next month, I’ll return to who I once was on here and stop giving a shit! (sorry mom)
- When I was a kid, I fell out of a window onto a brick fire place. I wandered over to the neighbor’s house to play with their daughter (at bedtime) and remember sitting on the back of the toilet as my face dripped off. Gross.
- I’m not superstitious but if it is supposed to snow, I wear my pajamas inside out and backwards with a spoon under my pillow. It worked twice this year.
- I can be completely off with first impressions. I’m glad I recognize this because otherwise I would have missed out on some awesome people!
- I have a great fear of crashing or falling or hurting myself. I don’t like to ski, rollerblade downhill or even sled because I can’t guarantee the outcome at the bottom. Even running down a hill makes me nervous. I lean back.
- My earliest memory is not a happy one. I vow to never put my children in that type of situation. Ever.
- I didn’t realize how much I don’t like snakes until a friend’s dad had one and gave me the opportunity to hold it. I could almost pass out just thinking about it.
- I cannot wait until the day when I get corrective surgery for my eyes. I can’t imagine what it feels like to wake up and not have to scramble to find my glasses or pop in contacts. But that would require a trip to the eye doctors…
- I like my butter real. None of the vegan crap. That is one taste you can’t replace/substitute.
- At one point, I had ten earrings between the two (ears of course). But once I realized I wanted to be a funeral director, I took all but three out. But people rarely notice the third.
- I honestly can’t remember the last time I had the hiccups. Or maybe I was too drunk to remember?
- Sometimes I wish it was the winter so that I could make a pot of hot soup each week.
- I believed in Santa Clause for an abnormally long time. Until my aunt ruined it for both my sister and I at the same time. I hope my children will too believe someday.
- I am a very honest person and dislike being lied to. I’d rather be poor than dishonest.
- I miss catching fireflies.
- I have already found the house of my dreams. I just wish people (aka my ex-boyfriend’s mother) would back off and let the two of us deal with it ourselves. I wish I had money to invest into it. One day.
- I used to write in a journal almost every night as a teen. I need to get back into this habit.
- My goal is to run my first marathon under five hours. My ultimate goal is to run is under four and a half.
- My favorite beverage is water.
- When I’m sad, I sleep in the tub. It’s cool, cozy and my own little escape in the apartment. Don’t judge, we all have our quirks.
My friend Lindsay Bishop is an artist who specializes in lobsters. She does realistic and cartoon line drawings. Email me or Facebook me if you want to chat with her.
Good job on the juice cleanse. I’m impressed, I know I couldn’t stick to it.
Happy blogging!
Jenny.
