It’s rare these days that the beau and I plan a night out, let alone out of Troy. But Thursday we made the short trip to Schenectady for dinner and a premiere.
We stood outside in the freezing cold waiting for Bradley Cooper to arrive.
We had two massive vegan burritos and two big servings of french fries. The cajun fries were AH-mazingly crispy and delicious; I can’t wait for the Bombers to open up next month here in Troy.
We had beer.
We played some trivia. (this was our first time ever playing and I think we’re hooked)
We saw The Place Beyond the Pines. My mini movie review: I loved it but I don’t think it was the story that had me hooked, it was: well, Ryan Gosling, the actual filming seemed dark and raw and I loved the soundtrack. I enjoyed recognizing the locations and I found myself searching for details. I’m a horrible person to bring to the movies in general but make it a packed house, and I get even more antsy. I’m admittedly one of those people who can not stand to watch something that a) hasn’t happened or b) could never happen. My attention to detail is so great that I can’t seem to relax and enjoy the storyline. This luckily was a movie about reality. My biggest pet peeve from that film: the scene where Bradley Cooper was in the hospital speaking to his supervisor from the police station and after several days of being in there, he is clean shaven. Odd for me to notice and yes the fact is that people do shave while in the hospital, but that was a detail I wasn’t expecting to stand out to me. I know, I know, this was my first movie in a theater in over a year. I would recommend it- especially if you’re local.
And we snuggled in. It was way past midnight (aka way past our bedtimes) when we strolled upstairs and under the covers but it was worth it; it always is.
